At The Cross (Love Ran Red) – Chris Tomlin

This song has really touched me recently, the message is simple and profound. Everything we need can be found at the cross of Jesus! It is a concept that most of us Christians have heard over and over. I ask you to look at it and hear it with fresh eyes and ears and an open heart. Let it hit you and sink in to the deepest part of your soul. It is completely life-changing. For those who do not yet know how they feel about God and Jesus, know that he willingly laid down everything for you. You are precious to Him in every way just as you are and wherever you are right at this very moment. Jesus wants to know you and for you to know Him. He doesn’t care what you’ve done up until now. There is nothing that the love of Jesus can’t overcome, it doesn’t always feel that way to us, but, God’s love and mercy is enough to cover any and all sin, every mistake, every regret, every hurt, and all brokenness. I hope this song touches you as deeply as it has touched me and I pray that you would feel Jesus’ presence today in a new and exciting way, that His love would be a tangible thing that you feel and can be secure in. Know that He love you so much and all He wants is to be in relationship with you.

Jeremiah 18:1-6

18 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord:

Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.

Then I went down to the potter’s house, and behold, he was working at the wheel.

And the vessel that he was making from clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he made it over, reworking it into another vessel as it seemed good to the potter to make it.

Then the word of the Lord came to me:

O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does? says the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.

We serve such an awesome God! Everyday I am amazed at His never ending love and patience. Try as I might I know that I will fall short of perfection, and yet I serve a God that never tires of reworking me into something beautiful. How blessed I am that He takes joy and pride in that reworking. As long as we are in this world our life will be marred and spotted just like the vessel in the verse. Even so, we can rest assured that our Potter will lovingly form us again every time we crumble. Some mistakes can seem like the end of the world, but have faith, our endings are just a chance for God to create a new beginning!!

The Gap

My pastor has been preaching these past few weeks on the gap between expectation and experience. When we set out to do something we usually have an ideal situation in mind. Everything falls into place seamlessly and goes off without a hitch; We get the promotion, or the guy, the day of the test comes and we know every answer, we ask for something in prayer and Jesus gives it to us immediately.

However, our experiences often fall short of our expectations. So, what is the reason for this gap? Continue reading
